CALL OF THE WILD!

“I was traveling the dreary desert, in search of a livelihood and most importantly, water. The camel I was riding on was almost dead from exhaustion by the monotonous journey, never seeming to cease. ‘Just a little more, just a little more,’ I say, but I knew very well that we wouldn’t make it. Then suddenly,”
“The camel morphed to a lion, then to a dinosaur, then….”
“Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, I screamed, as I toppled on a bed of books, which I had strewn during my search for my picnic basket for the picnic due today,(I must have cleant them up when my mother told me to do so!)
My mother ran into the room with Somu-my brother-as she uttered in a commanding and fear-stricken tone, “Ajay, what happened? I said” Just a nightmare, mom.”
“You and your nightmares, hmph.”Said my mother, amid Somu’s steady chanting “Crybaby, Crybaby, Crybaby,” Don’t you want to go to the picnic today?”
“Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes,” I said and ran to the bathroom after glaring at Somu. “Behave, Ajay, and same to you Somu,” said my mother, giving me a kiss on the cheek.”Meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee,” whined Somu. My mother smiled and kissed Somu too and said
”Remember, you are going to a picnic, not to an amusement park. Staying alone and your course of actions will determine how much discipline you possess. So keep your cool, don’t get excited, and most importantly, BEHAVE!” “Yes mom,” we chorused.
We traveled on the bus to our destination, and we spent our time admiring the bus. The bus was pure class, starting from sofa seats to an LCD T.V to a super-spacious aisle, this bus had it all. And just as we were about to switch the T.V on,
“BOOOOOOOOOM”went the bus.
It did not damage anything or anyone except the engine.
“A Breakdown” groaned Somu.
We got off the bus into a desert land. I kicked it in frustration.” What shall we do now?” I said. “We better keep walking “Said Somu,”We might find help.”
We walked across the desert with renewed vigor, searching for any sights of life in our path. We found several, but all the nomads, camels, and everything living in general seemed to be in a terrified trance. They seemed to be running away from the direction we seemed to take.
Just as we thought we were getting nowhere, a bus appeared in the distance. We ran to catch it and we shouted,” Stop, Stop”
But we needn’t have shouted, as the bus stopped on its own. On the spur of the moment, we decided to board it. And when we boarded it, we realized…
…that the bus was empty.
“Never mind”, I thought, as Somu examined the interiors of the bus. I searched for a conductor, but there wasn’t any, I searched for the driver to tell him our destination-and to our horror, there wasn’t a bus driver too!
Somu seemed to realize the same thing, as he screamed, “There’s no driver in here”, frantically pointing at the drivers seat. The bus jerked to a start. And then suddenly.....
The bus blasted forward, at over a hundred and fifty miles an hour!
We screamed in 2 part harmony, and clung on to the stability poles for dear life. The bus did not seem to stop, and soon we were forced to combat huge waves of nausea.
We did not stop screaming, and the bus did not stop moving…
(...Until it stopped, of course!)
Once the bus came to a final and ultimate halt, I screamed with all my remaining energy,” Get off!”
We threw ourselves out of the bus, breathless, but safe.
And even this wasn’t the end of the trail of surprises. The bus behind us vanished without a trace, and the place we ended up in was even stranger…
…the Kaveri river bank!
“Where are we?” asked Somu.
“The Kaveri river bank.” I answered.
“Wonder what’s in store for us here?”
“My school books tell me that we humans are the most accomplished of all living beings in the entire world, so nothing can harm us, especially when there are hundreds more living over here.”
“Who is this ‘hundreds’ you are talking about?”
And it was then I realized that the Kaveri river bank was completely deserted. Not even signs of any life existed there.
“But my school books tell me that the river bank areas are the most populated areas of a country and majority populations thrive over here!”
“You and your school books, Humph!” said Somu with his usual air of dignity, {Nightmares and school books, what’s next?}
“YOU MAY BE BEST, BUT I AM BETTER!” said a booming voice behind us.
We slowly and with extreme caution turned our heads and examined the source of interruption, and the answer baffled us…
…It was a camel!
We were dumbstruck, but natural instinct took over and we rushed to board the camel, which didn’t seem to object and immediately took off. We were grateful for God’s mercy and took a well earned rest, unaware of what was happening below us…
…The camel morphed to a lion, then to a dinosaur, then…
  "Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!” I screamed once more, toppling back into the bed of books {I’d better do it, what if this happens again?}
My mother rushed into the room, but with the queer absence of Somu.

“What happened?” she enquired.
“A nightmare, mom. Just a nightmare!” I replied.
“Enough. Now get ready for the picnic.”
“I don’t want to go”
“Why??? You know how jumpy and excited you were about being in this picnic.”
“What? Are you scared of a big monster coming and eating you up?” She continued in a mocking manner.
I paused and then replied “Actually, Mom, I am”
And then she replied, and finished the quota, making number three for the day-
“You and your imaginations!!!!!!!!!”
